"teens in the sex trade" mainly talk about young girls in the sex industries. various prostitutes came to the show and talk about how they went into it and stuff like that.. i was really emotional when i saw this girl named victoria.. i am not really sad about her story but rather, i am sad about how she kept it from her mother and how her mother felt when she got to know that her daughter was in that 10 billion dollar sex industry. how can anyone handle the fact that their own daughter is in there for 2 years..
after that, i watched another theme " Somaly Mam " still host by tyra banks.. its about this victim born INTO prostitution in Cambodia. got to found out that Cambodia actually has 10,000 to 20,000 women working as sex slave!! i mean this IS sick! i was loss at words and when i was listening to her account, i just cried. there are tons of girls suffering the same fate as her in various countries and here we are in singapore, its by far the most fortunate country in the world coz children here are not forced into this kind of stuff. even in america, u can still see young girls working in these industries.. but here, its all about education. we used to complain that we don't have any childhood or stuff lke that but what about those girls working in the brothels at the age of 4!
in the show itself, there is this video that show the somaly Mam foundation. there is this young girl being rape at the age of 10 just to get some money for her injured dad. how many 10 years old are able to think and help out in the family here in singapore? we are all so concern about climbing up the ladder. i was so touched that she is able to think in this way and i really hope they can do more to help these people. well, the only thing i could do here is just making donations and hope that they are still sustainable to help these young girls. how i just wish that some of the NKF donations can be used to help these girls rather than helping those corrupted directors in their daily life and expences!
